Winona County, MN is Hiring a Victim Services Coordinator Near Winona, MN

JOB
Winona County is accepting applications for this position until 4:00 p.m. April 24, 2024.
This position starts at $26.50/hour (DOQ) with advancement up to $33.96/hour.
Characteristics of Class:
Under general direction of the County Attorney, an employee in this class performs independent work with average or above average difficulty in connection with providing support, information, and referrals to victims of crime. The employee is responsible for organizing and coordinating a program to assist victims of crime following best practices for crime victim services, including, but not limited to, direct services such as ongoing victim notification and case process information, community outreach and education, and community engagement. Establish and supervise a volunteer program. Work is performed in an office setting.
Examples of Duties:
Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples listed in their relative order of importance include all duties, which may be found in positions of this class.
Educate victims regarding victim rights.
Participate in public speaking events to promote and educate the community about victimization and crime victim’s rights.
Provide support to crime victims dealing with the aftereffects of a crime prosecuted by the County Attorney's Office. Act as liaison and support person throughout the criminal justice system process.
Notify victims of the status of the investigation and court dates.
Explain to victims the criminal justice system, focusing on the court process.
Work with County Attorney prosecution team to prepare victims for testimony.
Perform Community Outreach.
Provide referrals to legal and community resources to assist victims.
Assist crime victims in receiving restitution and compensation.
Any other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Any combination of training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
For Pre-Employment:
Knowledge of office practices and standard office equipment.
An Associates Degree in a legal field or two years of related experience.
Knowledge of laws, court procedures and policies, and legal factors pertaining to the criminal justice system.
Ability to maintain a variety of complex records and prepare reports from such records.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including being comfortable with public speaking.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, attorneys, employees, law enforcement officials, government agencies, and the general public.
Proficient use of computer software such as Microsoft Windows Applications: Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel.
Must pass a personal background investigation.
